HOSPITAL CLINICS & SERVICES
Women can avail of maternity care as a private, semi-private or public patient. We have a range of services to support all aspects of maternity care, and for all patient categories, including:
The Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit (EPAU) is a dedicated specialist department that deals with problems in early pregnancy. Patients experiencing early pregnancy bleeding, for example, can avail of a free ultrasound examination as early as medically necessary in our EPAU. Patients, who would just appreciate the reassurance of an early pregnancy scan, in the absence of any specific medical complaint, can avail of this service at any time in our Private Clinic where expert consultant obstetricians are immediately available.
Specialist antenatal clinics supported by a range of obstetric and medical consultant subspecialists include; Cardiac, Diabetic, DOVE (Danger of Viral Exposure), Fetal and Maternal Assessment, Haematology, Hepatology, Hypertension, Multiple Pregnancy, Psychiatry, Pre-anaesthetic, Prenatal Diagnosis, and Teenage Pregnancy.
Midwife specialists attached to the Diabetic, DOVE, Fetal Assessment, Prenatal Diagnosis, Psychiatry and Teenage Pregnancy clinics may be contacted directly to make a booking appointment. Other clinics may be accessed by contacting our antenatal outpatient department or our GP Liaison Service.
The Rotunda provides a wide range of benign gynaecology services including:
General gynaecology problems, Continence Promotion, Infertility and Outpatient Hysteroscopy Clinics, Cervical Screening/Colposcopy and Sexual Assault Treatment.
COMMUNITY SERVICES
The Rotunda Community Midwives support antenatal clinics for women living in and around the Ballymun, Blanchardstown, Cabra, Coolock, Darndale, Finglas, Lusk and Swords areas. The community midwifery team also supports mothers and babies living in the greater north Dublin area to avail of an early discharge home service. A midwife will visit the mother and baby in the comfort of their own home for up to a week to provide one to one individualized care, advice and support during the early postnatal period.
PRIVATE AND SEMI-PRIVATE SERVICES
The Rotunda Hospital has significantly enhanced its private and semi-private clinic services recently. Our new clinics provide a warm and welcoming environment in which patients can immediately avail of one-to one midwifery support, consultant obstetrician care, and the immediate support of additional healthcare professionals, including physiotherapy, dietetics, and lactation supports. Our new semi-private clinic provides a more affordable option for patients, with all clinics now being supervised by consultant obstetricians. Our range of new consultants has also significantly enhanced the specialist gynaecology services that we can offer.
For more information about any of our Rotunda Hospital services, please visit our website www.rotunda.ie. Please also feel free to contact me directly at any time, or our new GP Liaison Relationship Manager Eleanor Power, if you have any suggestions, requirements or challenges that we can assist with.
Best Wishes,
