The Executive Management Team (EMT) at the Rotunda Hospital have taken the very difficult decision to cancel our Annual Service of Remembrance for Bereaved Parents and their Families this year.

This decision was not taken lightly but decided in light of the ongoing global COVID19 pandemic and the restrictions placed, by NPHET, on the numbers permitted at indoor gatherings.

The EMT and all staff at the Rotunda are truly sorry not to be able to gather to honour and recognise the precious short lives of all babies who have died recently and those who died long ago. The service was due to be held in the Pro Cathedral on Sunday 15th November 2020.

All staff at the Rotunda Hospital do acknowledge and recognise the extra anxiety and stress for everybody this year, in particular our bereaved parents and their families. We hope you understand and accept our sincere apologies.

We post the reflection “We Remember” which we recite together each year at our Service. Perhaps you might like to take a moment on Sunday 15th November to read this reflection quietly in your homes as we gather in spirit on that special day.

Reflection

We Remember

In the rising of the sun and it’s going down
We Remember them
In the blowing of the wind and in the chill of the rain
We Remember them
In the opening of buds and in the warming summer
We Remember them
In the rustling of leaves and in the beauty of autumn
We Remember them
In the beginning of the year and when it ends
We Remember them
When we are weary and in need of strength
We Remember them
When we are lost and sick of heart
We Remember them
When we have joys we yearn to share
We Remember them
So long as we live, they too shall live for they are a part of us as
We Remember them
