    Semen Analysis Testing

    Andrology is the medical speciality that deals with male reproductive system. Testing is performed on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 9.00am to 12.00 noon by appointment only. All results will be sent to your referring doctor within a few days of testing. Our trained staff will be happy to answer any questions or concerns that you may have prior to testing.     Please note the following important information below prior to your appointment.
    All patients must have a request form from their doctor.
    Sample should be produced by masturbation (do not use a condom) into a sterile leak-proof container. These containers can be bought in your local pharmacy.
    Sample should be collected after a minimum of 2 days and a maximum of 7 days sexual abstinence.
    If additional samples are required, the number of days of sexual abstinence should be as constant as possible at each visit.

    The sample needs to be complete and the man should report any loss of any fraction of the sample.
    Samples should be brought to the laboratory as soon as possible and within 2 hours of producing.
    The specimen container should be kept at ambient temperature, between 20oC and 37oC during transportation to the laboratory.
    Specimen container should be clearly labelled with the man’s full name and date of birth and/or hospital number.
    Upon arrival at the laboratory the man should fill out LF-MICRO-0058 semen analysis questionnaire form before the sample is analysed.
