On Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th of August, there will be a number of traffic restrictions in place in Dublin during the #PopeInIreland visit.
Our advice to anyone who anyone who plans to come in to the Hospital on these days is;

  • Avoid travel unless absolutely necessary.
  • If travelling, leave plenty of time, and be prepared to use an alternative route to your usual one.
  • Try and avoid the city centre if possible.
  • If travelling, use public transport wherever feasible.

Our Services
The only Well Newborn Baby Clinic this weekend will take place on Sunday 9.30 – 12.30. There will be NO clinic on Saturday, or Sunday afternoon.

Travel
On Saturday 25th, travel will be easier.
The city centre will be open and there will be minimal road closures throughout most of the day.
There will be rolling road closures as the Pope travels through the city centre on Saturday evening, from 16.15. (Route Below)

On Sunday 26th, From 6am until 11.59pm, there will be significant road closures in place surrounding the Phoenix Park.
If travelling into the Hospital, please be aware and avoid the Phoenix Park area. Find below a map supplied by An Garda on preffered access routes to the City Centre

The Gardai advise the following routes;

From West and North, use M50 and one of the following –

    • N2 Finglas Road
    • M1 Drumcondra Road
    • Ballymun Road
    • N32 Malahide Road
    • Clontarf Road
    • Dublin Port Tunnel

From West and South, use M50 and one of the following –

  • N7 Longmile Road – Cork St
  • N81 Tallaght Road/ Terenure / Harolds Cross
  • Dundrum – Ranelagh – City
  • N11 – Donnybrook – City
  • Rock Road – Pearse St – City

Utilise the M50 and avoid the M3/N3 and N4, as well as avoiding the North and South Quays west of Church St Bridge
